Leading production and distribution house Seven Arts, owned by G.P. Vijayakumar, will release superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited science fiction biopic Endhiran(Robot) in Kerala after buting the rights for Rs. 5 crores, the highest price paid for a film in the state.

While Endhiran, produced by Sun Pictures, is all set to release in September in 2000 screens worldwide, the highest ever for a Tamil film, we hear that director Shankar apparently originally wanted Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles.

"Shankar was keen to have Khan on board and had even discussed the script with him. Kareena, who always been a SRK fan, thought Robot would be a great opportunity to pair up with Badshah Khan once again. Shahrukh, however, could not do Robot so Kareena stayed out of it automatically," a source said in a leading portal.
